I don't believe they were rare in 61-63 because they were less costly than non integral bed trucks.
Most commercial & fleet users bought them instead of split body trucks, although they did prefer the 223 I-6 engines over most others.

I don't understand this, if they were less costly why are there more standard bed trucks on the road now than unibodies. The original price of a vehicle actually has nothing about the rarity of that particular item now, it only means at the time they were sold they were the cheapest. If folks didn't want the cheapest then they bought the next in line. Therefore, if the sales of the unibody wasn't high in quantity in 1963, I would say they are more rarer than the other models available today.

Ed in 61-63 the unibody was the baseline F100 and the standard cab/bed was an option. Ford stopped production of the unibody in 63. Unibodies are the most common body style for 61-63. Flairsides then standard beds. Unibodies are considered rare because they were made for only three years. In reality a 61-63 F100 with a standard bed is more rare than a unibody. They are distinct because Ford used leftover 59-60 beds for these trucks. One other thing Ford did not make any 4x4 unibodies.
