Clutch

I had my '99 at the dealer today because of a squeal in 1st & 2nd. They said the noise is coming from the Throwout & Pilot bearings in the clutch. He said they're not bad, just making noise. I would think that if it's making noise, it's probably going bad, but I don't know a whole lot about clutches.

Anyone have any opinions or suggestions? How much should service, doing the whole clutch pack, cost? I think he mistyped the estimate, but I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

get a new clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing & rear main seal if you get any work done. it's the labor that kills on a job like this so you might as well replace everything else thats going to wear out in the future. replace the slave cylinder too if theres any signs of leakage and maybe those stupid rubber plugs in the transmission that shrink and leak. the extra labor of replacing all these extra parts is minimal once the tranny's already out. i'm guessing they'll charge around 5 to 6 hrs labor for any one of these parts or all of them at once.
