The bracket that Lokar recommends with the cable is sold separately and is almost as much as the cable itself is. Thanks for being the voice of reason, Larry. I did alot of checking last night and the cable runs between $30 and $40 with the bracket being $20. I can get some 3/16 stock with ends, paint it Ford Blue and have something that didn't cost me alot and still look pretty sharp under the hood.
I'll look into the Mustang junk for a pedal when I get back down there. What model is fairly compatable with the '69? another '69-'74 car?
Something newer...80's or such. With either carb or throttle body. Anything newer than that...not sure, may be too long. I guess you need to measure from firewall to carb to get an estimate of how long a cable you need. Then work backwards from there.
I actually went to the dealer and had the parts guy bring out some assemblies. I picked the one that was the right length I needed. It cost me $50, but for my car I wanted something nice and new looking. I suppose if i was ambitious enough I could have hit the junk yard and found something also. Sometimes I will pay the money NOT to have to dig. I got the pedal itself from a friend(no cost). The pedal and cable are two separate pieces.
