Ok. My truck was running like crap and somehow got flooded. I changed the fuel regulator and put in new plugs. Atleast i got it started again, but it still ran bad and wouldnt keep runnning unless i gave it gas. I kept checking vacuum lines and stuff and i noticed that when i took the cap off my PCV valve(it was the kind that has two holes and one is just capped)...the engine ran great. I can hear air being sucked in through the valve now, but what does this mean and whats my problem. I dont want to drive it around with this air whistle.
Removing the cap on the PCV valve tree introduces a vacuum leak in the system, which will lean things out and make the engine run faster. It sounds like you may have an air restriction somewhere, like a clogged air filter or gunk in the throttle body.
With the cap installed, how does the engine run when it's not idling? If you've got a clean air filter and it just idles bad, then maybe you should clean out the throttle body. Or maybe the IAC valve on the side of the throttle body is stuck closed. Take the valve off and clean it out really well with some carb cleaner.
