Turn Signal
Gentlemen:
My turn signals (in my '78 150 Ranger Explorer) are flashing in a "non rythmic" pattern between fast and slow (both right and left). Has anybody else had this? What would be the first place to check? Thanks, as always.

The signal will flash fast if a filament is burned out. Try replaceing all the bulbs on that side. Also check all the grounds at each bulb. You might be able to turn on the singnal then look at the front or back to see if one bulb is intemittently turning off.

I had a problem with corrosion in the front turn signal sockets. The corrosion was shorting to ground inside the body of the socket. Replaced both front socket assemblies and the problem went away. Hope this helps.

I had this problem also. The signals would speed up and slow down. It was only on the passenger side, though. It was a bad pigtail on the front parking light. I unplugged the bulb socket from the housing and looked closely. The signal was alternating (depending on how I held it) back and forth between the parking light filament and the turn signal filament. It was shorting out internally. If it is a pigtail causing this, fix it soon. Or the turn signal switch in the coulmn won't be far behind it. Trust me.
