After order ?'s

I ordered a truck last Sat. (3/6). After we worked out the deal I told the salesman "ok, order it." He says to me "let me find out how to do this, I've never ordered a vehicle before." So maybe I should say, I think I ordered a truck!
What should I be asking for from him? VOC, DORA, VIN, Build date, ect. And when should I be asking for them.

Thanks

I think I'd find another dealer.

If that ain't in the cards, then you need to bypass the rookie salesperson and talk to the new-car manager. Chances are, he's the one doing the ordering. If you told them to order it, then you should have had a VOC in hand as you were walking out the door that day. The DORA usually becomes available about a week-10 days after that, then the VIN gets assigned when Ford schedules the order.

I agree with 1956MarkII. I reached an agreement last Wednesday evening and I reviewed the VOC with the Sales Manager and Salesman, I left with the VOC in-hand. Hope this helps. I'll reply again when I have a DORA, should be sometime later this week or early next week...Deac

Hey, I also order mine on 3/6 and they told me that it would be 6-8 week. They also said it will be built the second week of April and I will have it by the end of April.

I ordered mine on 02/12, walked out with the VOC. I got the DORA on the 15th or 16th. On a whim, I called and asked for a VIN around the 1st of March. He had it for me and said it was scheduled to be built the week of the 8th. I've been calling the VOPC and it was "produced" on the 8th. Tonight I called again and it has been "shipped" via ConWay carrier. It was a little hard to understand but I think it said "ConWay" or something very similar.

Are there any more options as far as tracking the truck now that it has been shipped or do I just wait 'til it shows up at the dealer?

Thanks in advance!

I believe it stands for Vehicle Order Processing Center
The telephone number is <!-- (800) 962-3746 -->. I got it from this board.
You need:
Dealer Number (on VOC)
Model year
Body Style
Order Number or VIN

I placed my order 3/15 & got a VOC before leaving the dealer. It icluded a priced DORA without me even asking. Sounds like a good start. Price was $400 under invoice and they threw in a bedliner N/C (but they may have gotten me with a few extra charges, not sure about that).

I got the DORA faxed to me this morning (3/17). Everything looks okay, as far as I can tell. Dealer priority is 20. Hope that's okay (I heard 10 is best, 99 is worst).

I called the VOPC number today, entered my info from the VOC and the recording said "Clean & Unscheduled".

I ordered an F-250 XL Supercab PSD on 03-17. I gave the dealer the requirements on 03-16. When I signed the sales agreement, I was provided with a copy of the VOC which was dated 03-16. Does the VOC mean the truck is actually ordered???????

Salesman says 6 to 8 weeks, but to be prepared for delivery before the end of April. What are the next steps to take to track the order?

Priority is "20"... Any significance?
Top right of VOC is "Dealer: F24517" Is that the dealer # for VOPC?
What other info do I need to track via the VOPC? A previous post says "Order Number". My order number in the upper left hand corner says "0001"
Is there any other hidden significant info on the VOC?

Thanks for the help,

Rick

No. Anyone at a dealership can go in and generate a VOC, print it, and then log out of the system without ever ordering the vehicle. We use the VOC in our dealership for pricing/options verification, as it's the most accurate way to do it. If it's actually ordered, then the dealer will receive a DORA a few days after the order is put in. This is Ford's statement that they received the order, and if it's ordered properly, it will show in the system as "unscheduled/ clean." If the dealer screwed up in ordering, then that will be refelected on the DORA as well.

Your order has a priority code of 20. The highest priority that a dealer can attach to an order is 10, the lowest is 99. A 99 priority order will NEVER get built. Nearly every one of our sold orders gets a priority of 11-15, so a 20 is actually a little low for us. But your dealer may have a different way of doing it. If there are 3 other orders like yours, but the priority on those is 12, 13, and 14, then all those will get scheduled and built before yours.

Sure is.

Is that really YOUR order number? Sounds to me like your salesman used that just to price out the truck, then the manager assigned a sequential, coded order number when they actually ordered it. "0001" just sounds too easy, don't you think? Do you have all the pages to the VOC? If you ordered a fair number of options, there will probably be 2, even 3 pages. If you have only one page, and at the bottom you see a note among the "F-key" codes that says "F8 next," then you are missing the extra pages, which means you don't have a complete list of options.

Occasionally inconsistent, but ...

Just FYI,

I've called the number about 6 times. First time, "Your order number was not found in the system". Not too surprising since it had only been a few hours since the truck was ordered. :-).

Second time I heard, "Clean, Unscheduled". Oh, yea. Looking good.

Third, fourth, & fifth times, "Your order number was not found in the system". Huh? Was the second one wrong? Rats. Now what's my real status?

But, things apparently are just fine. Tried it a few minutes ago and automated voice said, "Your order is scheduled to be built (week of?) April 5".

Woo hoo!

BTW, my dealer's priority was 20.

Russ,

I ordered on 03/17. Also had dealer priority "20". VOPC says I'm also scheduled to be built week of 04-05. Looks like I should be able to get the AQHA rebate if they hang in through April! My dealer has already guaranteed the current $2000 rebate on the PSD.

Anybody have info on the AQHA rebates?

Really? I didn't know there was any kind of guarantee available. Everything I've heard (in the short month that I've been involved in all of this) was that it all depends on what rebates are in place when the truck is delivered.

Luckily, thus far, that might work in my favor because it was $1500 last month.

What if you get a guarantee for $2,000 and it goes higher?!

There is a rebate guarantee available to Ford's "select" dealers, which are the smallest, mom-and-pop operations. And most of them don't even know the program exists.

From there, it's up to each individual dealer. It's my dealership's policy to guarantee the base rebate that's in effect at the time you order. If you order a gas F-250, we'll guarantee $2500. If the rebate goes down April 1st, we'll make up the difference. If the rebate goes UP, you'll get the higher rebate. I think that's called "win-win." AND we're selling ALL Super-Dutys for $950 BELOW invoice. Okay, so it's "win-win-win.... "

I researched the price of my truck for about 6 weeks. I discovered this site about 3 or 4 days prior to ordering. Thanks to Mark, I was aware of the "rebate protection program". My dealer said they were not eligible, but that it was unlikely the rebate would go down, as they rarely do (?). I said if that was true the truck would be free...as the rebates would have done nothing but rise. I told them other dealers will guarantee the rebate (Thanks Mark) and if they did I would sign the contract.

I'm $300 over invoice before rebates. Current $2000 rebate is guaranteed, in writing. If the rebate goes up, they will honor it. If AQHA is still in effect I'll get that too. I'm paying sales tax on invoice plus $300. $58.50 for title/registration transfer/battery/tire fee. NO OTHER DEALER FEE.

I obviously could have gotten a better deal with Mark, but this guy is a mile from the house. They seemed to deal pretty straight forward.

Thanks Mark. You provide a great service.

Rick
