Knock It Off!

I am so glad that I did not find this forum prior to buying my truck. I have had many cars in my time.. and I have hung out on a lot of forums - Audiworld being the last one... and I must say, with all do respect, this forum contains the biggest and most... well... whiners I have ever seen.

What is the deal???? If you hate the truck so much, sell it and move on. I have read posts from hating the floor mats to being pi$$ed the dimmer does not have a light in ("I can't see it in the dark" statments - gimme a break!) it to the whole vibration thing.

I have a great word for all of you out there..... it is called "MODIFICATIONS"! - Don't like something? Change it. Make it your own. Show us your ideas not your complaints.

Of all the other sites I have had the fortunate opportunity of belonging too.. this is by far the most befuddling. I am simply amazed by the negative comments about this truck - I thought this was suppose to be an "ENTHUSIAST" forum. A place where we help each other... post ideas, talk about mods, and show off our trucks - heck maybe even talk about GTGs. Not here though. I think this is the official "write in and complain board".

This may get me ostracized for posting this... and I could vent all day on this topic, but can we start enjoying this truck and stop the whining? Maybe some of you should take a look at other forums out there. Get an idea of how things can be fun - Audiworld and VWVortex are good places to start. Lots of good knowledge there from people about there cars - positive attitudes, and a love for the vehicle they drive - and the MODIFICATIONS they do to them. <----- Hey there is that word again.

I think this truck kicks a$$ and I want to find ways to bring out the potential it has.

I am beginning to think Dodge, Chevy, and Nissan has sent bots or something here to post only negative issues on this truck - Could it all be a conspiracy to try and prevent new buyers from buying Ford???

Well, welcome to FTE.

A lot of the complaints that you read give other users something to bolster their cases when they go back to the dealer for repairs, or just help reassure them that they're not the only ones having problems. You'll find a lot of knowledge and creativity on this board. But you're going to have to expect some complaints when you're reading a forum dedicated to a new product line.

I say move it to an "Official F150 Complaint Board". Let this one for the enthusiast - as the top of the forum reads -- "Ford Truck Enthusiasts".

Here you go....

Positives:
Great exterior styling
Awsome interior styling
Rides like a Cadilac
Performs like a solid workhorse
Could pull a house off it's foundation and down the road
Nice power seat (raises short people like me)
Remote entry w/lights is great
Roomy x-cab
Nice, loud stereo
Deep bed
Tailgate assist my kids can open
4 wheel discs could stop a train
Auto passenger airbag
Power rear window's (all around)
5.4L 3v, lot's o' power
Payload up to 3000 lbs.

Negatives:
Vibration & petty issues that come with a new model year.

Conclusion:
Awesome truck & we all know it, but we only have 36,000 miles to get the petty issues solved, so the complaints help us solve them. The bragging doesn't. Keep the complaints coming.

I agree completely with Greenroses. I absolutely love the truck and would not think about trading it, but I would like to get the vibration issue worked out.

I have second thoughts about my ordered truck each time I read the posts with all the problems.

Ford just bought back my 03 Expedition because it went crazy when encountering doppler radar from FAA and weather sites.

It is important for the problem posts as it gives others experiencing these issues more information to give to their dealers, or in my case, the Dispute Settlement Board or states lemon law.

I don't consider it wining at all.

If I paid 35 or 40K for a vehicle, it shouldn't vibrate, shimmy, go into failsafe mode and limp home, and the A/C should work and the wipers should clear most if not all the windshield and the defrosters should melt the ice.

Some may tolerate these conditions better than others, doesn't mean they are winers. Means they won't tolerate defective products being paid for by their hard earned money.

Keep up the posts, good or bad, the more information the better !

I had 5 new Ford vehicles in last 8 years, 4 have been great, number 5 was great most of the time.

I hope #6 is great too !

1FittyJer, speaking of "whining", you're doing pretty good yourself.

As for your accusation that people here "hate" their trucks...I've yet to see one post where an owner "hates" his truck.

If you believe your truck is 100% perfection, free of defects, free from cut corners, and short-sighted design, leaving no room for improvement, then consider yourself having lower standards and lower expectations than most of us. BTW, things like shudders, vibrations, poor visability (day or night), limp-home mode, etc are not basic problems. Especially for a manufacturer who's been building trucks for nearly a century.

"Modifications"? I think you have that confused with "fixing". Big difference. My little sister just bought one of these. I could see her maybe adding aftermarket exhaust or adding a performance chip or something. But I can't see here putting on a pair of cover-alls and "modifying" the chasis to get rid fo the shudder, or disassembling the defroster to find a way to make it clear the windows better. You're dreaming.

Yes, this is the "ENTHUSIAST" forum. If you want strictly a "MODIFICATIONS" forum, you're at the wrong place. But maybe you should check it out here a little more before running off at the mouth. Because you'll find pictures, discussion of aftermarket add-ons, performance and economy reports, suggestions for fixing problems, etc.

1FittyJer, I think you're just another planted Ford employee sent here to cover up the boo-boo's. I mean why in the heck would anyone interested in this truck want to cover up owner issues, and only talk about the rosey side?

Last time I checked the human race was intelligent enough to think for themselves when buying a truck. This site just gives us more to think about.

I give him 5,000 miles, then he can join the rest of us "complianers" with the vibrations, check engine light, wrench light, running in limp mode ect. All of which "Ford is aware of & is working on a fix, should be a month or so, it's ok to drive for now"

I just dumped $40,000.000 in a new truck and now I should modify the truck to damper drive train vibrations? Has my wallet not been beaten up enough? Heck it's leather, I should marinate it and make it into jerky. Currenty it only carries small bills. If for some reason I ever become a ford saleman, I want your phone number. I would love it to have a customer say "it's ok, I will spend my own money to fix your problems". Why have a warranty? Best to bitch while you have one.

Again, most of you are missing the point. Re-read my post - I never said anything about fixing issues with your own money. I never said mods are the answer to problems you may be having with the truck.

People in here are super touchy... and I stand by my post. You whine way too much. Look on the positive side of things and have fun with this fine truck. If you don't like it, or you did not spend enough time checking it out before you bought it, your issue.

All I am saying is this is an ENTHUSIAST forum... not a whine and complain forum - and that is the majority of the posts and threads I see. I even see positive posts turn bad 'cause some moron has to come in and complain about something.

When things go wrong we look to each other to help figure them out... I agree. Quit the complaining already though - geez.

I may be new here but I am not new to the concept of ENTHUSIAST forums and love for cars and trucks so get over your thought it is cause I am a "newbie". We all have been at some point or another on some topic or another... get off your high post about that. After all it only makes you feel better.

I am not directing any of this at any one person. I am not going to make a personal attack - although it would be easy to do with some of the apparent intelligence in this forum. You know who you are though. You get all fired up cause you need the justification for your whines...

I am not a Ford employee. I have no ties.

Maybe this will help the poorly educated:

I don't think we're all here to flame; that's not what this board is about. I can see your point; this IS an enthusiast site, and you'll see a lot of love for these vehicles in the various forums. However, there are some problems with the new lines, and people are going to complain. Welcome to the site, and please enjoy what the users have to offer in the various forums.

1FittyJer,

as a felliow Ford Truck Enthusiast I appreciate your input (positive and/or negative) to give myself and others an informed insight into all aspects of this new F-150. The forum is made up of blue oval enthusiasts from the early F-100s right up to the new LD F-150 and the Heavy/Super Duty series trucks as well.

I didn't see what model/trim level 04 F-150 you bought. I haven't seen a link to any photos of your ride nor a list of mods (appearnce and/or performance) that you have done to your ride. How about posting some pics? I hope you enjoy your new F-150 'cause I know of not a single member of this site who has stated that they wish they had not purchased their 04 F-150. Just my $0.02, thanks.

1fittyjer,
No offence or anything, but if you don't want to read about a gripe, why do you?
Seems that you read through plenty of them, and your response is to whine about whiners.
This is a place where people say what they have to say, as you do aswell, as I am, aswell.
Touchy you say. Well, sure. I Think you should maybe just post about your truck and not focus so much on the members and their issues with their Expenive trucks, which they love and want to work properly.
IMO

BTW, since you have a dictionary on hand why not go back and edit your first post.

More mistakes made in IT than in my truck.
