Digital clock question...

Hello. I have a 1980 F100 for those of you who haven't visited this forum before. I was curious as to whether a 1980 F100 has a wiring hookup already for a digital clock? I know this was an option at the time, but I don't know if it has the wiring connector so you can just plug in the digital clock that is in the radio bezel. Any ideas? I know they had F150 XLTs that had all those options.

The reason why I am unsure is because I just put in a tach in my F100 and it already had the wiring hookup already installed. So my guess is that the wiring for the clock is there too.

Any help I would greatly appreciate! Thanks!

I never found a plug for a clock install, they are easy to wire up tho, 1 constant 12v, 1 switched 12v, 1 ground, 1 dash lamp connection to dim it, Around here a nice bezel is hard to find, a bezel with a clock opening makes it that much more difficult since many didnt have a clock

Good luck, any truck manual with a wiring diagram will tell you which wire is what on the calander/clock

Ok thanks for the info. I found out that 1980 Ford trucks didn't have a digital clock as an option, as it came later in the mid-80s. I have no problem finding bezels because there's always some on Ebay with the cutout for the digital clock.

how much do they sell for on there ? and are they uncut 85/6 din opening bezels ?

Mayhaps the 1980 had no clock option due to the digital clock/**** radio available in the 1980 like the 79 had ? thats a rare and elusive piece

The radio bezels sell for as high as $60 on Ebay. There are different bezels all the time, some with a factory cutout for a radio with no separate *****, and then there are some woodgrain bezels with the original cutouts for each **** on each side. Digital clocks are also sold on Ebay, ranging from $20-$30 usually.

I put one in my 86. It didn't have the wireing, but I found an unused plug under the dash and with a test light I found all 4 things I needed. constant 12v, switched 12v, power w/ lights on, and ground. My Ford manual told me all the color codes for the clock, and I made my own harness, complete with plugs on both ends, and wrapped it in tap except for a few inches on each end, and it looks as good as oem!

As for the bezel, i couldn't find one to match mine that was as nice, so I carefully cut out the three squares. It took a while, but it is also as good as oem, you'd never know I cut it out unless I told you. First I drilled a hole in the center of each of the 3 squares, then I was able to put in the blade from my coping saw through the hole and carefully cut out each square. I cleaned up all the edges with a wide, fine, file. I was gonna use a dremel, but if it gets away from you just once you ruined it, so I did it the slow and careful way.

Yeah when I had my gauge cluster out I noticed that same plug that you found under the dash. Must be there for testing purposes.

I don't know what it's for. But it was nice of Ford to put it there, wasn't it? I think there are more too, the one I used was next to the ash tray on the passenger side.

I found a truck in the boneyard over the weekend with a clock, so just for $#its and giggles I pulled it out and tried to follow the wires. They quickly disappeared into a main harness, I tried to cut that open and see where they went, but it wasn't getting anywhere, so I clipped the plug and took that and the clock for my effort. Guess I got an extra now.

Those clocks sell for as much as $25 on Ebay. You should sell it on there. I bought one a while back at a salvage yard for $5 and sold it on Ebay for $25.

Yea, thats not a bad idea. I got a bunch of stuff on sunday and the total came to $10, guess I can't loose! I've got two sets of woodgrain dashes, one burlwood, and the other is the other style woodgrain, both nice, but I'm holding out for XLS trim for my truck. I'm sure between the two sets of woodgrain and the standard in the truck now I can make up the cost of the xls trim when I find it. I just assume hang on to that stuff for now though. I think I might even have a few extra delay wiper setups around. I got about 4 of them, put the nicest in my truck, and I think I've got the other three in a cabinet in the garage. They're probably worth something. I like to have at least one extra, just in case that brain box dies on me out of nowhere.

The delay wiper assemblies sell for as high as $45 each. The woodgrain dash bezels sell for as high as $50-$60 each...same for radio bezels. Hope that helps you!

Actually...the woodgrain dash bezels you have, are they with AC or without AC? I'm trying to win auctions on Ebay for a burloak dash bezel and matching radio bezel with clock cutout. Well let me know! Thanks!
