i'm moving soon, and would like to save money on renting a truck.
my fatherinlaw has an awesome trailer that he uses to cart stuff all over the place.
i think it would probably be cheaper for me to get a tow package, but i'm wondering if EVERY explorer has the wire harness behind the driverside taillight.
i have a 95 xlt.
also, what class tow hitch would i need to move just furniture and stuff?
You should be fine. I would get a Draw-Tite hitch. I had mine installed by Leer a few years ago - $109 installed. I do a lot of towing, and would never put anything on the bumper.
I think you can find the wiring harness adapters at WalMart. If not, Auto Zone or Pep Boys should have them to plug directly into the factory hraness....
I just purchased a wire harness from Autozone for $10 - but it is just the harness that plugs in to the tailight and is about 2-3ft long and has the flat plug on the end...they have another one that has more wires and is $35.....
