I am looking for service manuals on cd or dvd that covers bumper to bumper including wiring diagrams for my 2000 excursion w/ v10
anyone out there know where i can find the manuals on cd that do not cost an arm and a leg.
Have you looked on eBay? I bought one there ... probably a pirated copy ... about $5. I also bought the factory service manuals from the publisher, Helm Inc. I find it easier to flip through hardcopy pages than to navigate the CD. The hardcopy manuals were about $240 with the wiring diagrams ... covers all SuperDuty models.
I THINK IT WAS LANDLOT that steered me in the right direction, and I contacted Helm Inc. I have just sent off for the service manuals for my 2000 EX $272. But I needed four books, because I needed the book on the 7.3 diesel. I ordered the paper service manuals. My experence like (LANDYOT) said! It is easier to flip through the hard copies than it is, getting lost on the CD . If you can handle the frustration of getting lost and having to back way up to try and find the right path, then go for it. The price differance might sway you. Also it might help, that when a list of options pop up, PRINT IT OUT and save it in a paper file. THis may save you alot and I mean "ALOT" of time down the road at a later date. This way you wont be saying to yourself (NOW WHERE DID I SEE THAT LAST TIME).
Those books are priceless ... and HUGE! They've already saved me at least twice their cost, if not more. There's a goldmine of information in those volumes, and the wiring diagrams are great ... after you get an understanding of FMC's terminology on their schematics. However, they are not perfect. I have found a couple errors in the wiring book (ALWAYS double-check each wire's functionality before making a permanent connection!).
