Question for Ken: Diablo Chip?

Dear Ken, I have read that you are the chip guru? It 's seems to be true in my opinion..Anyway...I currently have a Jet Chip which I am planning to get rid of. There is a guy that is selling a diablo sport delta chip, but it is programmed with a computer box code of UEV2. He says the chip is for Ford F-Series in his ad. I have a 2000 4.6L manual with flowmasters and a Typhoon air intake. My code is NIV1. Can it work....be reprogrammed... or is it not possible?

Any words from anybody is appreciated.

Yes it can be reprogrammed, but it is usless without being reprogrammed, it is a better deal to have one reprogrammed then to buy one new.

Yes, Diablo Delta chips can be reprogrammed quite easily by us.

I show that NIV1 is for a 2000 F-Series 4.6L, confirming the code you gave..... However, it doesn't look like Diablo has produced a template for that PCM yet (not a common code). Before you buy it, let me put in a request with Diablo in the morning to see if they have a read on the NIV series. If so, we can do it. If not, you'd need to send us your computer box to read so we can program a chip for it.

Do you mean mailing the whole ECU. If so, that might put me in a bind since I have to go to work. Just let me know what turns up, I might get a lucky break with this deal. By the way, I've read your pasts post on the forums and I am really impressed with you, not to give you the big head , but sounds like your the King of your trade. I like doing buisness with you. Oh by the way, how much would it be to reprogram the chip and where would I send it to?

Hey Ken, Did you find anything out yet. I'm afraid I will run out of time and the guy will sell the chip to someone else. Also, is there a difference between a chip for the 4.6L & 5.4L or are the computer motherboards the same diminsions just different programs? The guy did not say which motor he had it in & he has not emailed me back yet.

If I'm not mistaken all fords newer than 1997 (or 1995, not sure) use the EEC-V, just have different programs on them.

Yes, I meant emailing the entire ECU.

Diablo says they can supply a template. Usually takes 3-4 days.

So is it safe to buy the chip? If so I will send the chip to wherever you want me to. I can use 93 octane down where I live if that helps out. Thanks Ken You have been a great help.

Yes, its safe. 95% of the time when Diablo says they have a read they can supply a template (occasionally the read they have on file is a bad read and they can't). If we can't supply one, you'll not be charged (we don't charge until we ship).

Thanks Ken. Is there a cost for having it reprogrammed?
