I have a 96 F150 with the M5OD-300/6. No problems with that trans. BUT in the future I will be getting a 22 ft cabin boat that when fully loaded will be about 5000lbs. The truck has just 80,000 miles and is in excellent shape. I wanted a NEW ZF but all I can find are rebuilds. Plus I would have to pay a core charge since I don't have a used ZF to turn in.
I can get a brand new NV 4500 for $1800 with warranty. It has a cast Iron case and is even stronger than the ZF with aluminum case. The whole swap kit is about $2500 with crossmember and adapters for the bell housing and the transfer-case. 11" clutch and pressure plate/throw-out bearing ect...
Anybody out there ever made this swap in a F150 or BBronco????
