Howdy. this may possibly be a dumb question, but. I have a buddy that has an 02' duramax with three "stacked" chips. How does this work? aaaand is there anything remotely like that available for a 95 powerstroke that anybody has ever heard of?
The only way you'd be able to stack chips on a '95 would be to run a programmer and chip at the same time, though I don't see the benefit, since you can get the program you want burned into a chip and be done with it.
I see you've got propane. What program are you currently running in your chip? I assume it's custom burned for propane use. Once I added propane to my truck, the custom burn made a big difference.
Well actually, i got the chip two years ago and just started using the propane this past fall without any changes to the chip. I'm assuming that you would suggest getting a new chip that is set up for the propane? Also, i was wondering if i could have a chip burned that would make my truck smoke more. I know, I know "smoke is just fuel being wasted" but, i think it looks cool and many agree. so i figure: "to every man, his own"
Alrighty, i went to the Diesel Innovations site, and it says that the edge ez will work in conjunction with a chip and will add around 35hp to whatever the chip adds, and it just plugs in to the ICP sensor. It also says under the edge evolution programmer that it is stackable, so, does anyone know if one could run all three at once: the chip, the ez tuner, and the evolution?
No, the EZ and evo. both use the ICP plug, same as the SP diesel stage one or two. any one of those items, or even something as simple as a 10K mod can be "stacked" with a chip.
Alrighty, did a little more research on the EDGE company site and this is what i found:
1. Under the EVO it says : "The Evolution connects directly into the OBDII port underneath the dash. Once connected the stock software is downloaded and the new Evolution software is uploaded onto the trucks ECM."
2. Under the EZ it says : "The Ford EZ is installed underneath the hood and plugs into the ICP sensor. When used in conjunction with a chip, the EZ provides 25 - 35 horsepower above and beyond what the chip produces. "
So, if i read this correctly, the evo plugs into the same port that you would plug in diagnostic equip. etc..., and the EZ plugs into the same icp sensor that is used when installing the 10K mod.
You can't stack chips for any vehicles. They can only run one program at a time. You can, however, stack a chip with an external fueling box such as the Edge EZ.
If you stack a chip with a Microtuner or Predator tune you're running the chip (chip turned on) or the Microtuner/Predator tune (chip turned off) but not both at the same time.
There seems to be a lot of confusion in the market: external boxes that connect to the ICP sensor are not chips.
