Hello all, have a question that has been buggin me for a while. I had the joy of rewiring alot of the wires under the bronco because the guy I bought it from had it sitting in a field and his dogs like the taste of wires i guess. Anyway I got everything connected and working except for some wires that were sticking out the side of the transmission. There are 6 wires coming out of a half/circular shaped sending unit that the kickdown lever attaches to. Its on drivers side and I believe I have the C6. Feel kinda dumb asking but I can't find it on my wiring diagrams in the hanes manual. The wire colors appear to be: purple, red/white, blue/red (x2), black, pink/black. These may not be right because the casings are pretty faded. I haven't noticed any problems with the transmission or kickdown, so I'm not sure what this part even does. Thanx

After looking through the wiring diagrams that I have, it seems to me that the wires should go to different places almost unrelated. Here is a link to a diagram that has some of your wires that would make sense coming from the tranny. http://www.imagestation.com/mypictur...3&from_album=1
thanx for the link, that is pretty much the same as the wiring diagram I have. I also noticed that by the wire color they seemed to go different places, but like I said, the colors are pretty faded. I guess my main question now is, is what is the thing mounted to the transmission? The kickdown lever goes right through the center of it, and the six wires come out the back. The only guess I have is maybe something to do with the reverse lights, because that seems to be the only problem with my truck. Does this sound right? 6 wires seems a bit excessive to run some reverse lights. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
You know, that reminds me, for those that have seen my sig in the past know that I was unimployed, but now i'm not, I caught a job at the autozone about 2 min. from my place. I had too start out at part time but i'm working 30 hours a week anyway.
The "Thing" you are refering to is your Neutral Start switch. Ford used to mount them on the steering column, but swapped them down to the transmissions in the '70s. This switch monitors the shifting location to allow you to start the Truck in Park and Neutral, it also activates your Backup lights when the truck is in Reverse.
