carbs add belly rolls if you dont work them off. the body saves carbs for later energy, in the form of fat. anywa i just got home from the bar again so dont take me too seriously. wanna gain weight? eat something sorta small every 2 hours.
I must say that wanting to gain weight is much more doable then loosing weight. Before you start to think I am fat, I am 6'2" and 175. My weight training is picking up 4 speed toploaders.
Well, I actually just joined a gym a few weeks ago, after not having set foot in one for about 6 years. Did I take that into account when setting my weights, nope. For a good 4 days afterward I thought my arms were going to fall off any second.
It comes back quick, sometimes. Bench presses, I was back up to about 220# in no time (not a great acomplishment given my size, but it was impressive to me..)
When it comes down to leg work, I scare people. Leg presses are just a waste of effort. At 600# plus body weight I might as well have been lifting a Coke can.
Now if I can just get my upper body back where I want it, I'll be happy.
Most of my time there is spent on cardio machines, trying to get rid of the several tons of fat I've managed to pack on since I took this desk job. It's amazing how quick I can gain weight, just the way I'm built, and diet I keep. But, at the same time, once I start working again, it falls off real quick. Before I took this job, I was working 2 jobs, one as a frieght chucker at Sears (repeat after me, don't lift lawn tractors alone), and running behind the counters at a local quickie mart. Between the two, it made for one heck of a daily workout, and within a year I managed to drop over 100#.
Now if I can just keep my 300# **** motivated, I should be able to get back to my target of 250# in no time. Any smaller than that, I start looking sickly. As my grandfather used to say, I'm built like a 6'1" brick ****-house.
Motivation, yeah, that's it. Gotta stay motivated. Great, it's almost boat season, that's gonna be tough. Boat, or gym... Hmmm.
I agree rob_nc, I have have begun concentrating on the form and contraction of the muscle. I have been lifting weights since College and have gone back and forth between power lifting and body building. I think I have found a good balance now and like where I'm at strength wise. I am 6'5" and weigh 240, my body fat fluctuates between 10% to 13% depending on the time of the year. But I maintain my strength regardless. It's diet and sleep that I consider most important. I tried the protien shakes and must admit that I don't like them. So I get what I need from my normal diet. Cogratulations on your achievement BuiltToughF250, Goals are meant to be surpassed. Keep going strong. If you can lift 300lbs. three times you should be able to hit 330lbs. already. At least your muscles are capable of doing it, now it's just getting over that mental obstacle! Good luck man!
Normal chest routine:
flat bench
8 reps at 225lbs-warm up/ stretch
8 reps at 315lbs.
8 reps at 315lbs.
burn out reps at 275 lbs.
incline bench
8 reps at 245
8 reps at 245
5 reps at 275
I do dumbbell fly's and dips to round it all out. For the chest work out. I just maintain this workout, it's where I'm comfortable now.
BigDmizer- you do 275 on the incline bench?!?!? thats pretty impressive. it just seems soo... wobbly to me, hard to control so the most ive done is 185.
P.S. it still hurts to stand up! my legs are KILLING ME!
I forgot to mention, I'm 6'6" and 260lbs. If I can't pick it up, I find a way to pick it up. I have a railroad crowfoot bar that stands about as tall as me. If I can't move it with my hands, I'll stick that bar under whatever it is and usually that extra leverage gets the job done. I keep that bar in the truck at all times.
I don't like it much at all, but it gets the best results. It's always the toughest exercises that give the best results. Just keep good form and you see your weight on the incline go up. If I'm tired on a certain day I'll usually skip the incline bench and work on the incline hammer strength machine. Call me lazy...............
I'm a lil wimp in the gym but I can pick up some pretty impressive stuff if I need to (just don't ask me to lift pretty light stuff a whole lotta times in a row in a hot barn........I thought i was gonna die stackin hay) I'm 6'4 170 and can only bench 160 or so prolly not even that anymore....but i can pick up logs and stuff may larger friends think are impossible??????maybe its because I can get a good grip on stuff or because my long legs are much stronger than the rest of me (I could do all the weight more than ten times on my high schools inclined legpress machine)
