Hello fellow Ford lovers, I am trying to help a friend restore a 1948 E600 Flatbed and have had little luck within these forum walls on identifying the engine, etc. It is a v8 with split shift manual tranny, dually and it has E600 logos all over it. How would we go about determining engine displacement and such. There is a nomenclature plate attached to the glove box lid which lists some info but nothing regarding the engine. Any help would be appreciated.
Where in the world are you located? - 'cause that's not a factory badge from the US.......also posting the vin would help us pin it down.
Ford started 'E' series econolines in the 60's I believe, and 600 series began in '53.
If it is a 48 the stock engine in an F6 truck (2 ton) would have been the 239 flathead V8 which is very common and was also used in cars and lighter trucks.
