Heck, you could have replaced that seal already with all of the time and effort you've put in this by now. If you're going to keep it then you might as well get to know it a little better. Spend a weekend under it pulling the tranny and replacing that seal. It's not difficult, just a little time consuming. Think of it as "quality time" with your truck.
