Just another dumb question
sup guys...havent posted here in awhile...but here ya go....my 5.0 sound just isnt blowing my skirt up anymore....i hear these hot rodded stangs running the roads and they sound awesome, but i cant catch any of them so see what setup they have...im sure they have tons of engine mods that will make the exhaust sound better.....but im thinking of changing my mufflers...ive got true duals w/ two 40 series flowmasterz.....its hi flow, but when i get on the gas it just doesnt growl like i want it to....is there any setup out there that will be just all out loud but with that old skool sound to it? everyone says it sound awesome when i get on it, but i want something more....never satisfied...maybe never will be
btw...at a stand still when i hit the gas i want it to freggin roar...im not really getting that with my current setup, so if anyone could help me out, i'd appreciate it

Loud is what im going for...but i dont want it toooo loud...i might get a cutting saw and saw off both flowmasters and see how i like it...i just want it to growl when i stomp on it...flows just arent doing it for me anymore....ill keep everyone up2date
Straight headers man. Holy crap is that loud, straight headers are rediculous.
Do you have headers? Cause if you did I bet it would be louder. I hate all this flomaster crap, either you have it or you don't have a souped up exhaust.
Personally I like the sound of my Dynomax Super Turbo's, they sound like a old skool muscle car, and when I get the headers on there oh baby. I'm just really not into the flo sound. It's really mean but it sounds like a car. Plus I like the deep sound and rumble more than a screeching noise.
I guess if you wanted a louder sound you could do some engine mods like headers (you might already have them!), and maybe intake. Well, that's it for me, I guess you'll never be satisfied with the sound.
I don't try to compete with other cars/trucks. I know that my truck has it's own sound and I'm cool with that. I love not having the ricer sound, it feels good to have a healthy (well somewhat healthy) V8 under the hood.

my bros 95 f-150 w/ the 302 sounds like it would have a great sound w/ duals either straight pipes or Red hot glasspacks.....its stock right now but I hear that rumble when I rev it up...its just really quiet. Anyway if ya want loud I have a pretty good grasp on it. My 351 M has headers-true duals-18 inch REDHOTS-straight out the back-need to get tips. It was the loudest exhaust in my school parking lot I had a friend w/ a souped up mustang w/ a 302....it was LOUD but we were a few cars apart and he got in a started revvin his up and so I revved mine up and he said he could even hear his over mine. And when I would cruise in a neighboring town I would always have camaros and mustangs "PIPE ME" then I'd Pipe them back and they'd give me the finger......that could be the best feeling in the world
HAHAHAHA...."people in stangs giving you the finger" PRICELESS
well i figured id put in a X-pipe first, its the cheapest thing i could put on there that would make a diff...then if im not sastisfied ill put on some headers....i can freggin wait till monday! might have to do it now lmfao....im not too sure about the whole straight pipe idea...seems like too much for me

I talked to one of my shop buddies an he said he could put in a x-pipe for about $35.....ive never really shopped around for an x pipe, how much would one cost me....im running straight duals that run both on the passenger side, due to my front fuel tank, so i dont think it would be much of a prob to install a x pipe....will i expect to gain any horses? im sure it will sound much deeper? what do you all think?
Your looking for the deep sound? I believe my setup is about is good as it gets with a 302w. Running shorty headers with true duals (2.25") with some packs, piping coming out at 45's behined the rear axle. The rumble at about 650 rpms is great, plus you can't beat going through the gears, people know I got some exhaust. It is not annoying going down the highway like striaght pipes tend to be. Not running a x-pipe here, but it will help equal out the pressure and sound. With headers you should expect 15-20 ponys.

wooooaaahhh.....its just not as loud on the inside...i love rolling down the windows an opening up the back glass and turning off the radio and listening to the exhaust while im running through the gears.....anyone else do this? or am i just looney?
nope I think that my 250 dollar exhaust sounds better than any 1000 dollar stereo you can find......(and if ya get really bored disconnect the driver side exhaust from the header and listen to it when ya pass cars........it sounds like your denting the cars HAHAHA....ok I don't really recommend this its bad for the truck, but sounds cool........I didn't do this on purpose my bolts holding my exhaust to my collector fell out)
haha, i was bout to say....i love passing cars and hitting the gas, sounds sooo cool eh Purdue? It sucks my exhaust is all on the passenger side,...i need to run it out in front of both tires so i can hear it better lol oh well another time nother place....oh btw i finally installed an x-pipe on my 150...man it sounds too sweet, every chance i get i punch it....and waste more gas lol...its faster though.......
