Good luck!

Everyone is saying you should take off the bed and add weight, but besides asthetics, what other reason do you have to remove the bed??

And between looks and functionallity, I ALWAYS choose function.

Thats exactly my point. If you take the bed off to lighten it, you dont need to add more weight.

I don't know if lightening the back of the pickup would do anything for you or not.. If you were pulling, I definatly know it wouldn't help

But in racing, the lighter the load, the quicker the acceleraion.

Thats it true. The only thing I'd be concerned with is traction on the bad wheels. I guess it would depend if you are racing on deep swampy mud or slick topsoil.

Yeah. Most mud races i have been to arent that deep, but i still think there would be enough weight to give plenty of traction.

Some of the tracks that we run in the circuit are deep where about everybody gets stuck and some tracks nobody will get stuck...there is usually alot of air being caught so i am looking to lighten the weight...but then if i took the box off i would pry just be nosediving really hard.

While lighter is better when mud bogging....there is something to be said for weight distribution. Taking your bed off will make your truck want to dive in the front because the back is so light.

I am taking my bed off and putting a steel plate down the same size as the bed floor, then adding 1/4 fenders from a semi to keep mud off the back of the cab (a little) This should give me a little weight to counteract the extremely heavy front end.

Eventually I will relocate the radiator and battery to the back, so it will just counteract it even more.

I run more boggs than anything. I will probably do more drags when I get my new engine finished.
