well i wont be using the pickup for anything but mudracing...so there really wasnt any need for the box...i was just looking to maybe lighten it up a bit...
Thats it true. The only thing I'd be concerned with is traction on the bad wheels. I guess it would depend if you are racing on deep swampy mud or slick topsoil.
Some of the tracks that we run in the circuit are deep where about everybody gets stuck and some tracks nobody will get stuck...there is usually alot of air being caught so i am looking to lighten the weight...but then if i took the box off i would pry just be nosediving really hard.
While lighter is better when mud bogging....there is something to be said for weight distribution. Taking your bed off will make your truck want to dive in the front because the back is so light.
I am taking my bed off and putting a steel plate down the same size as the bed floor, then adding 1/4 fenders from a semi to keep mud off the back of the cab (a little) This should give me a little weight to counteract the extremely heavy front end.
Eventually I will relocate the radiator and battery to the back, so it will just counteract it even more.
