I have a 70 highboy... I was given the pickup with no bed and a cab that had been quickly fixed from roll over damage. Right now it's a rolling chassis that I just got painted, looking into 390 motor options and possibably a lift. I have a 68 cab and clip that's the next to be worked on.
My first question of many is, what's my best optios for a bed, should I attempt find a bed off a highboy 67-72 for easiest fitment? Or is there others non highboy that will bolt up?
Also, can anyone recommend a good place to get new body bushings and bolts? I read that the highboy body bushings are slightly different, is that true?
You could probably source a F series bed and modify it, but the purist in me says this is a little bit of a cop out. I might consider just looking for another highboy (look on CL all over the country, there are always those farm trucks for cheap), or consider doing a nice custom bed. As for the bushings, they should also be different because high boy was an entirely different frame from F-bodies.
