I have a book called How to rebuild small block Ford published by HP books. In this book there is a comparison of several of the small block heads. According to this chart 351 Windsors all had 60.4 cc chambers and 1.84 intake vavles through 1975. If this holds true why is everybody after the D0 or C9 castings?

I can add that the 69-75 heads that the book claims to be so desirable, is the C9OE heads and D0OE heads.
C = 60-69 years
9 = year
O = car line
E = engine group
so this would be a 69 head
D = 70-79
0 = year
O = car line
E = engine group
so this would be a 70 head. The D0 where used through 75, I believe.
REason they are so desirable, the valves are larger than the usual, 302/351 heads. The cc chambers are smaller, so you get a higher compression ratio without milling or different pistons. They already have studs, so you have an adjustable valve train without machine work. They also, in stock form, flow pretty well, they flow better than the HO 302/351 heads, but not as good as the gt-40/gt-40p. Later
Buy an intake gasket for a 70 302 and a 351W and I believe you will see the 351W intake opening is larger than the 302. meaning the 351W has a bigger intake runner.
I was just assuming that the C9 were used only in 69 and that the D0 were used just in 70. I just figured that the 71-75 heads were cast D1,D2,D3 and so on and since the book stated that the 351 heads through 75 used the bigger vavles, and smaller chambers, just made me wonder why nobody was ever seeking a D2 or D4...... casting.
that makes sence. so my heads on my 351w are ******* heads??
d0eo and d0e1 built identical. one does have a big X mark i believe thats the d0eo head. while the other doesnt. built is the same all ports match. i would like to know what cars had these heads.
the machine shop said they are from the early 70s and are dove heads. but people on the chero forums dont think so. a guy coulda sold me the same heads that i got from the wrekin yard for $1200 flow tested and the works. but i settled w/ a $100 junk yard pair and droped 700 into em..
