The 16 inch is not stock. There is no gear you do on the 1996's you simply reprogram it through the gauge cluster. It's been done already.
a 31" tire is a 31" tire no matter what size rim you have and there really is no reason I see to have to change the speedo. The 265/75/15 was an option on the Bronco and may have been standard on EB in 96. I know my Bronco came with the 265 option. The 31' tire is slightly shorter than the 265 so I don't see why everyone thinks the tires are too big. Anything smaller than 31" would look like a bike tire on a Bronco. Cut the coil don't go to 6 cylinder springs. Look for a lowering spring if you don't want to cut them.
I would just let some air out of the tires to get into the garage. Get a cig lighter air pump to air'em up when you go cruisin' and while you're looking for some other coils. I have seen air bags that fit inside the front coil springs on a 4wd but not replacement bags. I know alot of people that have cut the coils on 2wd's to lower the front 1-2 inches, and that's probably your cheapest route.
Easy solution. Simply mount a big ol burly solid steel bumper that weighs a good few hundred pounds, and add a 15,000 winch while you are at it. If the extra weight doesn't help you sit low enough, then you just hook up the winch and make things fit .
Do you live in a high crime area? This might be a stupid question, but why dont you just park it outside? I have never liked the idea of cutting coils.
This has nothing to do with the home garage which is taller than the problem one...it's a business where all parking needs to happen inside a garage. The problem is the garage was never built correctly.
This is in Palm Beach, hardly a crime problem...still there is no other option.
