alloy wheel appearance help

Hi, newbie to the forum with a question. Just bought a '92 F350 CC 4x4 yesterday. The previous owner took good care of everything but the alloy wheels... they're in pretty sorry shape. I don't think that a cleaner alone is going to do much. I know that I probably wont be able to make them look like new again, but anything would look better than they do now. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards, Rick

Start off using Eagle Alloy Wheel cleaner.

They also make a product that doesn't retore them to perfect, but it does touch them up.

alloy is tough. you cant use real heavy cleaners on it. i tried that eagle wheel cleaner before. i dont think it works very well on stuff that has been ground in for years. at work we use some body shop prep/overspray remover. its like a really strong bug and tar remover. i would find something like that. take the wheel off to do it and take your time. doing one a week is good because sometimes you rush to try and get all four done in one day. whatever you do dont use a wheel brush. they are very rough and will make your wheels rust. after you finish i's clean, polish and wax them. meguiars and mothers make good 3 step products. good luck

I have the same problem with my bronco "chrome" wheels. I was thinking of taking some wheel cleaner and or chrome polish and working with my dremel to see if I can get it to look better. I am not expecting new, but hopefully better.

California Customs Purple metal polish and deoxidizer. You need to use both the first time but it is great stuff and I have tried everything. Here's a link to their website. CALIFORNIA CUSTOMS!
