I'm looking for a new set of 17" wheels for my '05 F-250SD - preferably in a 8.5-9 inch width. Tires will be Nitto Grappler 295s. I measured the OEM wheels and the 17"x7.5" wheels have a backspacing of more than 6".
I've been searching for 17" wheels that have an backspace of at least 6" - about all I've found are several Centerlines in 17"x8.5" or the Billet Specialties in 17"x9.5". The Weld wheels only have up to 4.5" backspacing; several of the Eagle Alloy wheels have 5" backspaceing - all of these will push the wheel/tire outward more than I want.
Can anyone point me to some wheel manufacturers that offer 17" wheels with high backspacing? Or, is there a wheel manufacturer that will custom make wheels to the specs you want?
rfairwea,
Intro wheels will custom make whatever size you want. I had them make some 20" wheels for my 05 so they will sit uder my wheel well and not stick out. They are on the web introwheels.com. There are pics in my gallery under exterior of my wheels.
Higher back spacing will position the wheel/tire further inside the fenderwell, not outward. You need lower back spacing, like the Welds with 3.5" BS, to push the wheel/tire outward.
i just saw the INTROWHEEL site. for a set of 17" wheels, custom backspace, 7, 8, or 9" widths. $2000/set. i think they are billet wheels. not chrome. its alot of money for 17's.
