Mine will sometimes do that if i do not have a properly formatted disk in the drive. I am assuming that you tried multiple disks?

Yes, sounds to me that it has come disconected (either the IDE cable, or even the power cable) does the drawer open up when you push the eject button? If not, then I would say that either the power cable has come disconnected, or the power supply has gone bad (which woundnt be a surprise if you have alotta different drives and accesories). Also, when you start up ur computer, push delete (to go into setup, or bios, its called a few different things on different computers, but its all the same thing), and look at the connected drives, and see if it shows up there. If it shows up there, and it still doesnt work, then you need to reinstall a cd driver (which is defaulted into 98, but sometimes we get click happy w/ the mouse and dont read all those little error messages, often times resulting in something that could have easily been avoided). Also, you can go to the windows website for that driver.
