Unhappy What have I done

Ok I just recently purchased an 87 B2 for a second vehicle. Was trying to make everything ready for inspection when I sort of messed stuff up.Well to make a long story short when I was tightening the clamps down on the new battery the socket sort of slipped and hit the body.A big spark flew and now I get nothing,no power anywhere.I consulted my haynes manual to find out where my engine fuse box was to see if I had blown anything, but to my surprise the b2 doesn't have a fuse box under the hood.Only thing I see is about 3 or 4 relay looking things mounted to the inner fender. My manual doesn't tell me anything about these"relays" so now I am lost.Someone please help.

SOunds like a blown fusible lnk. Look for a black wire with orange stripe at the starter relay. Somewhere in that wire there should be an orange colored 16 gauge fusible link. If it's blown it will look blistered. This link feeds the ignition switch, theres others, but this is the one I'd check first. I've never had to deal with this sort of thing, so thats about all that I can tell you. The positive cable from the battery is connected to the starter relay. Good luck with it.

Do you still have juice at the battery? They are more than one fusable link, I'm thinking 7-8.

Just and FYI, always leave the negitive cable unhooked until last, then you'll never do this again.

Ken, now that you mention it, shorting the battery probably would only hurt the battery.

Ok part of that long story short is the black line with the orange stripe is the wire I was originally replacing.I replaced it with a fusable link and what I did to make sure that it would not burn the wire again was put the positive cable on first and just touched the negative to the battery for about 30 sec.Nothing happenned (no smoke) so I figured everything was ok and I started to tighten down the clam and then WHAM that's when it happenned. So just to make sure I got this, you guys think that another wire may have burned up.Because I have no power with the battery hooked up now,no lights,no chimes, notta.I called some parts stores and asked some people and they said that it might be a fuse/relay,but I don't know anything about the relays under the hood on my B2

From the starter relay this is wired to fuse link C fuse link C feeds fuse link D which feeds the horn & cig lighter. Is the horn or lighter working?
Fuse link C also feeds fuse link E which feeds the ignition switch. Are any idiot lights coming on with the key at run?
If none of these accesories are working & the battery is OK either fuse link C is fried or the black/orange stripe wire is open between the fuse links.
Hope this helps, good luck with it.

Your fuse box is under the steering collum. You need to take out a screw or two. Look under the steering wheel and there is a stamped (Fuses) on the cover plate there.
