I am in the process of running the electrical for my electric fuel pump mod and I was wondering if anyone knows what the 15 amp fuse in the #5 slot in the under hood fuse box goes to? It does not have power with the key off and does with the key on. I am thinking about using an add-a-fuse in that spot to power my relay. Would relay like to know what it goes to first though. I don't have a good manual with fuses labeled and the cover doesn't say what anything is.
There is nothing in the #5 slot... #4 and #6 have 15 amp fuses. #9 is the power point fuse 15 amp.
Not sure what the difference is between our two trucks but my fuse box only has one 15 amp fuse and its in the #5 position. There is one or two 20 amps and a couple of 5 amps. What is power point? I bought a splice today I think I am going to tie into the fuel shut off at the IP anyway.
My 93 has the cigarette lighter style point for power of computers etc in the dash. OK found a 92 pic it states your #5 goes to the Aux power socket and ashtray light.
What was the date of manufacture on your door label...... IE 10-92
NEVER USE THE IP POWER for anything else........ you will have problems running/starting etc.
Use a relay to run the fuel pump.
If you trigger the relay from the fuel shut off, you will be OK, relays have a very small current draw on the trigger circuit.
