I posted this on the Oil and Lube board, but I really want some advice in a hurry, so I'm posting it here too. Hope nobody minds. My '97 F250 PSD with 5spd has 125,000 miles on it. Tomorrow morning I'm leaving with the wife and the little one for about a week of visitin' which will take us about 1500 miles all together. I've only had the truck a week, and I REALLY am happy with it. I intend to get 350,000 miles out of it like I told my wife I would so she'd let me buy it My problem is that I intend to change the oil and filter tonight, and I have no idea what the previous owner used. I don't know whether he went conventional or synthetic, or what weight or anything. Somebody tell me what I should use. And hurry, please. I'm burnin' daylight!!

the only oil used and every article I read in the Power Stroke Registry reccommends it. Good Luck
fred,
thanks for the info. I think I've posted on here before that I'm a paramedic and the PSDs we run in the E350 ambulances get Rotella T as well. I'd just never been sure if that was a cost-effective choice or a choice based on engine life!
do you happen to know the differences between the 97 PSD and the newer ones, as related to HP/Torque? Just curious. Also, what oil filter do you use?
I have owned and maintained semi's with CAT diesles for
about 15 years. I use Rotella exclusivly. I have gotten over
a million miles on previous engines and 720000 on this engine.
I highly recommend it.
