Ah, another thing I found out about L/S diffs....they rob rwhp. An open diff will transfer more horsepower to the ground than an L/S. the rotational mass and the division of power within an L/S actually causes a loss in power to the rear wheel. The upside is, more traction. So, it's a trade off. It seems like alot of things I've done to my truck, although some made it go faster, actually had a negative affect on speed.
Of course all that's a nil point now that it's lifted with bigger tires. It's still no slouch though. Once I put the 35's on, i MAY have to drop to 4.56 gears. I won't know until I actually do it though.
I am definately getting an LSD rear end. That will help me dramatically in my quarter mile times. From there, I will probably get the 4.10's. I'm a little leary about putting those on my truck though.
I got the perfect locker for you. Upon all my imense reserch, this is ultimately the BEST locker out there. NO clutches to where out and it never needs to be rebuilt. Anything with clutches is going to have to be rebuilt all the time and it's expensive. I'm going through that problem right now.
The 4.10's will shave 1/2 a second off your quarter, guaranteed.
350.00 bucks including install. Downside is a loss in gas mileage.
I'm getting this locker next. It uses a revolutionary planetary gear system. And is stock in all the new chevy rears including that new 300hp chevy convertible truck. My buddies Z71 has 173K miles on it and his locker still works perfectly.
