If I were to get a high flow cat(not the furry one), sould I get two, or only 1 to replace the second converter? Also, what sould I look for and are the clamp on ones any good. We dont have a welder as of yet. Is there any benefits to getting one?
If one cat is bad, the other isn't far behind. change both out at the same time w/high flow cat's.
just changed out one in my 95 jeep 4.0 w/112000
miles on it. wish i'd changed it years ago. low end performance is so much better now. i'm planning on a cat and muffler for my 2001 150 4.6.
The two on the stock Y pipe function as 1 cat (they are a precat, and the secondary cat). One high flow should do the trick, provided it is installed in the proper location. I swapped out my Y on my bronco with a Bassani unit, and it only has one high flow cat. It passed the sniffer test fine.
You only need one to replace the stock two, I did and passes emmissions without any problems. As for where to find them, places like summit and jegs carry them but usually you can find some good deals on ebay as well. Clamp on/weld on dosen't matter.
