I have searched the forum and read several of the 10k threads, but I still have a couple of questions... Im sorry if I come across as a gumbie, but I still am new to the PSD's...
I have gotten a 10k 1/2W resister and have put a 3" piece of copper telephone wire on each lead... so Im ready to install... I have located the ICP plug and the grey with red wire and the blue with green... But here is where my question is... It seems that some people say to strip your lead wires that are on the resistor and to force the ends into the top of the male (the part that plugs into the ICP) and some say to disconnect the male portion and connect the leads to the female side of the ICP...
Am I reading it right... can you do it either way... And if so and you force the leads into the top of the male section how far into the rubber do they need to be pushed in order to make a good connection...
Just curious, did you allow it to warm up good. I just did this mod today as well. I put it on a switch so I can turn it off/on. I did not notice anything different until the temp got all the way to normal. Then the difference in sound is very easy to tell. It sounds like a big block with a hot cam. Love this mod.
hcclimber & ROK31_99PSD, I did this mod as well, the most noticable difference is when the truck has reached operating temp and then,,,,,WOW. Somebody posted a 30hp & 100fp torque increase with this mod, I'm not sure of the numbers but it's well worth the money and time to install it! Quadzilla, Cookie88 & jpmorton have provided tons of insight on this mod as well as others,,,,, great site......
Well, its been only one week since I 10K mod'd my '03 F350 and with 240 miles since the mod my fuel economy is much higher driving the same route I do daily. I was getting 17.3-17.8 every week and now I have 23.3. I know it sounds like BS but the fill up and the computer both agree with these numbers. I am sure some of this is me being more careful with my driving since that would be a natural thing to do. Even if the increase is half this, I am very very happy!!!
Overall, I have much more power, an increase in idle of about 150-200 rpm and better mpg.
I just completed my tymar crossover mod this morning and it brought the idle down from 850-900 at idle to 750-800. The truck sounds better too but I also detected a tick like the fan hit a pebble about every 20-30 seconds while watching the engine for leaks to my crossover mod. Sounds like it is in front on the pax side near or inside the alternator.Anyone else hear a very distinct tick sound?
Nickiboy, I found the link on another great site, ford-trucks. I am not sure if it would be appropriate for me to post a working link to another site so do a search to find it. As for the mod itself, WOW. Since my truck is pretty stock, it made a major improvement in performance. Again I decided to put mine on a simple toggle switch so I dont have to have the rough idle (although it is pretty cool sounding at a stoplight). Tell me what you think once you install.
Hey fellows, I'm wanting to do this 10K mod myself but has their been any ill-effects of this mod. Also can you position the resistor behind the dash or where ever the switch is located. I have read where the resistor is positioned right at the injector control sensor, does it matter where you position the resistor. Also voltage flows thru a resistor one way to work right, am I right about this or all washed up. How does this mod effect EGT's, dont have my pyro in yet. Thanx.
Hey, how do you corporate the 10K mod into the idle validation circuit. That seems to be a good way to turn it off and on with the accelerator pedal. Anybody know how.
every body talks about this tymar product does he have a web sight or how do I get ahold of him also how much does his product cost. What is the tymar cross over mod. Any help would be great thanks

I just put in the 10K mod and I agree. The MPG go way up. I was at 16.5 avg and now 24.9. This is a mix of in town and country roads and letting the wife drive.
