Flame Thrower Install....Which wire needs to be tapped!

Howdy,
need to install a Dual Flame Thrower Kit on a 5.4L 2000 ish F-150. The kit has a module and a relay. The Kit requires you to bypass the wire that supplies + power to the coil (or coils in this case) and route it through a relay to by-pass the single to remote coils/plugs back on the tail pipe. So what happends is that the injector fires off but no spark. Then the unburned fuel gets expelled into the exhaust where it is ignited by the secondary coil/plugs. Now the probs it that there is 8 coils on this motor! Is there one wire for all 8 or 8 wires i have to worry about. I know the computer supplies ground pulses to the coils to fire. So there is always a hot when the truck is in run/start to the coil. Any info will help! Thanks!

Dan

Yep that's what he's talking about. I'm curious...are you sure there are 8 coils? That just doesn't sound right to me...but I'm by far an expert.

wire it to any 'ignition hot' circut' , thru a switch so you can controll it , and have fun, in the old days , we used to install a spark plug in the tail pipe ,and run a small tube with an electric pump from the fuel line thru a switch...., but thats another wood stove story, bob

On the 5.4 Triton motor, there is 8 individual coil packs on top of the plugs. This kit would only work if you didn’t have Cats. SO, since the truck would not run correctly if the cats were removed, we nixed the idea. Plus the complex wiring to bypass the coils that I would be guessing at. Sucks, he bought the kit and everything!
And yes! The kit says that you can get up to a 20' flame out of the pipe! I, myself, would not do such a thing....more of a favor to a friend. O well....thanks for the replys!

.........really?-a 'flame thrower' ignites unburnt fuel out the exhaust????????--this sounds strange, and extremely dangerous for off-roading and fire hazards!!!!

C'mon Mr. Bob..... you giving us the details isn't illegal. It's only illegal if someone does something stupid and then only for the one that does the stupid thing. That's why people can write books on commiting the purfect murder or how to be an expert sniper. Information is just that, information.
So please help us young 40+ year olds and share some of that excellent information.
Thanks,
Jeff
