We have a 02 F 350 PSD with the adjustable pedals. Ford replaced them under the recall. Ever since it will "die" or basically go to idle whenever it feels like it. Taking off from a light get to about 10mph and bam, it is like you slipped your foot off the pedal. I even got rearended a few weeks ago. Had my hitch on so the wrecker had to lift the mini van off of it!! :~).
Ford has had it in 5 times now and blame it on everything but can not fix it.
Has anyone else had this problem? The little woman is hinting she wants to drive the 71 until it is fixed but we still have some snow and salt laying around.
I'm not sure if SuperDuties are the same as the older trucks like mine, but mine has a switch on the pedal called the Idle Validation Switch. If the pedal is out of adjustment, when your foot is off the throttle, the switch isn't being depressed. When you engage the throttle, the switch isn't picking up the signal that the pedal has moved, so it won't come off idle.
I would think that would be the first thing the dealership would have checked, but I can't think of anything else.
I hope that helps.

They keep telling us it is fine, as it works like a reostat and the voltages are fine. I will be taking it back this afternoon. They give us a free loaner so we have cleaned it out and they can keep it until a Ford Rep will meet with us. They may not like it and they may threaten when I do not bring the Taurus back when they say it is fixed again, but hell I can always mount a 5th hitch in a Duramax! (groan)
