Hello everyone,
It's been awhile since I've been here. New position at work keeps me very busy.
My question is I have a beefed up 351c (bored .30 over, forged flat top pistons, increased intake and exhast times, 2bbl heads shaved .05 , deck shaved .05, and all hardware in the bottom replaced with apr fasteners) I just purchased a factory bbl intake (D3ZE-8425-AA) that I was told came from a 70 ranchero. I need a carb now. What would you guy suggest for the carb? This is an every day driver for work and I also tow sometimes although nothing very heavy I do want the option in case I need it. Plus I want improve performance.
Thanks
Kenny, are you aware of the difference between the 2V and 4V heads? the ports are not the same. the 4V's are much bigger than the 2V's. using a 4V intake on 2V heads will result in a substantial port mismatch, but legend has it that it will work and is good for 30+ HP. the openings of the 2V ports in the heads could be opened a little to minimize the difference, i'm not sure if they can be taken all the way to 4V size or if it will help or hurt? your intake, is it a spreadbore(smaller primary/larger secondary) carby pattern or is it squarebore(all the same size)? this will help determine what carb will fit, or there is an adapter specifically for the spreadbore intake to mount a squarebore carb. the spreadbore pattern is unique to ford 4300/4350 carbs, a holley, rochester or carter spreadbore will not fit without an adapter plate. so, whatchoo got?
