Hi, I just bought an 85 F150 with a 302. The engine runs great until it warms up. After this every time you step on the accelerator it hesitates. sometimes it will die. Any Ideas. Start with a tune up maybe?
had the same problem with my 84 turns out it was the carb base gasket to check spary some either or carb cleaner around the base if it winds up u got a leak
also check and see if your vacum advance line is hooked up
Thanx for the replies, I didn't realize that both carb and FI was available in 85. Mine has a Carburetor with electronic advance. No vacuum line to the distributor.
It's still important to check the timing, whether or not you have no vacuum advance on the distributor.
Check the choke plate to make sure it is opening up once the engine warms up. While you are digging in to that, it's a good idea to change the air filter and PCV valve. Never know how the previous owner kept things up.
