low fuel indicator

Does anyone know how many more gallons of fuel are left in your tank when the it trips the low fuel indicator light on the dash. 2001,sc,4x4,5.4,38 gallon tank. Thanks!

I usually have 4-5 gallons left. Mine is an '2, however.

Check your manual. I believe I read mine a couple years and it said you have 12% left. OK I'll do the math, 4.56 gallons. Mine seems to be spot on.

My light goes on...I procrastinate...then I fill up. 22-23 gallons I pump. So, if it's really a 29 gallons tank, that leaves it at about 6 gallons of reserve. Not a good reason to let it go so low, but at least it gives a good safety margin.

I agree with the other 2 guys approx 5 gal left usually sometimes more depending on how level I am when I start it up lol

Thanks for to replies. It seems everytime the indicator comes on and I fill up (38 gal tank) it only takes 31-32 gallons. Thanks again. Love the site!

low fuel indicator

I've the 01 Lariat that has the miles remaining display on the overhead consol. When the low fuel light comes on it shows approx.
30-40 miles remaining. It seems to be fairly accurate because its been down to 1 mile and I was able to squeeze in 29.3gal. I say squeeze because after the first click of the pump I'm still able to get 2-2.5gal. into the tank. It takes awhile because you have to run the pump slow.
