have single straight pipe into 30" glasspack, no cats, and not real impressive...will probably go to a shorter glasspack in the future...truck came w/ current exhaust...i just ain't impressed...
I have true dual exhaust coming off the split manifold straight to a pair of Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and dumping out in front of the rear wheels. Love the sound and the small boost in performance I received from removing all of the exhaust restrictions. Oh yeah, that is all done with 2.25" pipe.
Originally posted by couleeman Strait pipe single exaust is what I run. I have the cat, and nothing back from there except 2 1/4" pipe. It sounds pretty good.
I'm runnin a true 2in. single straight pipe out in front of my back tire w/ a 3.5in. tip, it's no ricer, but it's a cross between a cummins when you lug it and when you hit 3500 it sounds like a ol gas tractor runnin on ether. As long as it's loud is my motto.
When I had dual 2" with Dynomax mufflers, it had a nice raspy note to it, but a little on the rice side. A 3" straightpipe was obnoxious, and had an unusual amount of resonance, with a really twangy note at high end. Right now, the 3" single with a Summit welded muffler sounds about right. I am not running a cat.
