Has anyone heard that John Deere might put a diesel engine in Ford's Super Duty and Heavy Duty trucks? A few people have been asking me about it and I haven't heard anything yet. Thanks.
a real beaut! And exhaust that comes out on top and on the side of the hood, you know, with that little flapper thing? Maybe a rear-mounted PTO right next to the yeller hitch.
I read an article where Ford was considering putting a 6 cylinder diesel in the new F-150. They were working with International but the two could not come to terms, I think on development. Ford was talking to Cummins and John Deere.

I don't think this is true. Ford has not completely eliminated the 6 cyl. diesel for the F-150, but have postponed it for now. They were having trouble with it meeting emissions requirements for a 1/2 ton truck. From what I heard, they even tried a dual turbo setup.
I spoke with a Ford Engineer in depth about the F-150 diesel and the story I got is you couldn't order a Big Mac at the drive through without turning the engine off so they canned the idea.....
Well, over here, a gasoline 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are pretty rare and there's plenty of diesel ones at drive-thru's. They don't shut off their engines either. (Not even the Dodges.) Must have been something else.
