I have a SD f-250 and to my best guess 4:30 rearend. How do you tell exactly what the ratio is and if it has Limited slip or not. there is a tag on it but I dont know what it means. I bought the truck used and it did not come with the info.
Thanks for your help.
On mine it says 3L73 to me i think that means 3.73 limited slip
If I recall I saw it somewhere maybe 150 site or f-d.com
what does your tag say ??
I will keep looking.

Go to the V10 conference down the page. You'll find a thread entitled VIN. You'll find all your codes there. If you have a 4x4., look on your front diff. 4 30 means open diff, 4.30 gears / 4L30 means LS, 4.30 gears. BTW don't thank me, I got the info from some other guys on the site. Welcome to FTE!!
I've read (at this site) that the tab will have the gear ratio (i.e. 373 for 3.73 or 430 for 4.30) stamped on it. If you have limited slip, it will be listed with an L (3L73, 4L30, etc).
