My truck is white, with chrome Westin step bars. I'll have to watch out for you and say hello.

I'll be attempting this torsion bar adjustments this weekend. I will report back how I make out. If you hear a loud bang on Sunday...you'll know it wasn't good.

Just for reference, what are the down sides to torquing them up, besides the difference in ride?

i dont know of many, just dont crank them up all the way, there may be some issues with suspension travel, but i dout it. Also the alignment may be off slightly but mine was fine.

There are some potential down sides I believe. This information was taken off the link I posted. I checked it's accuracy with a local mechanic and he thinks the assessment is close to being dead-on:

Cranking in the torsion bar adjusting bolt too far with the factory indexing cams will cause the top of the cam lever to "bottom out" against the inside of the crossmember channel and grind against it at approximately 1-1.5" increase in lift. Although this might get you 1" or more of lift, it will not allow for any clearance, fine tuning or side to side ride height adjustment.

If the adjusting bolt is forced beyond the factory cam's range, it can wipe the threads from the bolt or crack the thread block and cause the torsion bar to potentially release violently.

Now I know they may be trying to use scare tactics to peddle their wares, but it bears mentioning and the mechanic I talked to said it wasn't off-base, so at bare minimum it's something to be aware of.

BTW, did you see the truck in the auction?!? SWEET!

Adjust torsion bars:
1 mark the adjusting bolt and frame with a white marker
2 turn adjusting bolt using a 18mm socket,wrench whatever
3 turn each side evenly using marking you put on with white marker.
4 check each side with aruler (on level ground and adjust as needed to ensure levelness.
5 wheel alinement may be nessessary.
6 do not get crazy adjusting the bars, you may get 1-1.5" max lift.
7 does not effect ride quality after adjustment.
8 look at how even your truck is now front to back.
9 smile and have beer, smoke whatever turns your fancy, you are the man!!!

While there's more than one GVWR for F-150's, 7700 was only available on the '00 - '03 trucks. The 6750, I believe was only availabe for the S'crews. Check your door jamb sticker, there should be a location for GVWR (or GVRW, is all in how you say it). The engine size and transmssion are only small parts to the equation.

As far as tortion bar adjustment, around this site it is relatively common. I've made 6 turns on my truck and felt the ride hieght was fine. This is a mechanical advantage to be able to turn the bolt to raise a truck... 1" is defintely not what I saw... mre like 2", and that was from a 1/2" adjustment. Sure, I'm not to fit 35's, but I didn't do it for bigger tires. Personal preference in how the truck looked, was more like it.
