I have a 73 F250 with a 460 and a 4spd. I was wondering how complicated it would be to change my 4spd to a C6 auto. I anyone has done this or knows what do do and would like to tell me that would be great. Thanks
Never done a 73 with 460. I went the other direction. I took the auto out and installed a granny box. In general what you need to do is:
Remove the driveshaft, trans, clutch, flywheel and pilot bearing. Bolt a flexplate where flywheel went and install the trans. Your old crossmember and trans mount should work with the C6. Your driveshaft won't work so you need to have the old one modified or find the correct one in a junk yard. To have the factory shift on the steering column you will need to replace that. You could probably also find a floor shifter that will work.
Then you need the kickdown linkage. To use the factory setup you need a carb with the kick down link on it. Then you need to install a trans cooler. You also don't need the clutch pedal so remove that.
