Loud hum from front end

I can hear an a noticable hum when driving 20-60mph. Thats with the windows up. I can't hear it when I stick my head out the window. The wind noise does'nt help. The noise is consistant with speed. I have BFGoodrich AT's on but I don't think thats it. I jacked up the truck and pushed-pulled on the tires with no sign of play. The only thing I may have found is the right side inboard cv joint has a slight amount of play as opposed to left. The ply is from up and down not in and out. I pulled the boot and the grease looked and felt OK. My best guess and question is------ is there a bearing on the right side diff. housing that the inboard cv joint plugs into gone bad. The truck also has 110000 miles on it. Or can the hub bearings be bad with no way to check unless taken apart. The noise does increase with braking. I would think because of increased pressures on the bearings. One last note, my haynes book gives poor descriptions or none at all. Good luck solving this puzzle and thanks for your help.

I forgot to mention its a 1996 xlt 4.0.
