I got my 2000 XLT Ext cab up to 110 then I think the limiter kicked in b/c would not go anyfast :-( so the car got the jump on me. But i'm all stock still. So i'm just saving up for the all intake, AFS, headers, Pulleys, Exhaust, Supercharger and to top it off Nitrous. That all I can think about except the forged pistons for the Nitrous.
Yesterday i had some time to kill in my dads truck. (4x2 Sonoma). well last time i was down this dirt road, i bout stuck my 4x4 ranger. (and its a public road) Well i started going down it with thte sonoma, but it was smooth. They had graded it. So 75 on a dirt road was fun. Power sliding around corners at 55-60. Then i acme up to where i almost got stuck. I locked it up, and slid within a foot of 100 feet of 3 foot deep water. My ranger barely made it, and i wasnt about to try it in my dads clean sonoma. Especially since i had to pick up my sister in about 10 mins.
The fastest i have ever driven was in my 89 grand marquis ls. I was up to about 120ish when i chickened out. It wasnt much to look at, but it loved to kill rice burners.
My 94 XLT with the 2.3 L will only do 83 on the flat Florida highway in a no wind condition with my foot to the floor, put in a little head wind and forget it, a little tail wind and it will go over the max indication of 85
My 92 4.0 has been up to about 100 before (the odometer stops at 85 so you kinda have to guess) I think it might have just a few more miles per hour in it but i dont really want to push it and find out.
Once we had a friends truck up to 100 and it hit the limitor. Yeah but it was on Iowas fantastic gravel roads. Where are you at hreed? [/B][/QUOTE]
I live in Alaska, and the closest 4 lane highway is about 200 miles away. And it's not very long. The biggest problem is coming around a corner and seeing a moose standing in the road. Then, even 65 is way too fast. We have highway signs on the roads here that tell you how many moose have been killed each year on the roads.
dont tell my parents, but i had a friend in an escort pace me and i got up to about 120...... but it took a few minutes to get there, i havent tried to top end it since i rebuilt my tranny and put another motor in. i have a friend from work that had a pimped out plymoth minivan and we hit a good 110 in it on dallas's highways when we were goofin off one night. and another friend has a 71 chevelle that i got up over 120....thats where the spedometer stopped, and a 03 neon that really has some guts to it.... we drove from dallas, texas to tuscon, arizona in 12 hours flat and had time to screw around for an hour in el paso. i was goin like 130-140. who knew neons were that freakin ballsy?

had mine up to 104-105 in 4th at about 4500rpm, put it in 5th and between the gearing and the wind resistance I lost speed. Swapped in a 140mph mustang speedo. the previous 2.9 could get about 95
It's a 4x4,so he probably has it geared pretty low.Plus it's got that 3-speed auto C6.Those are geared low all together anyway. With 31's,I wouldn't be caught doing 100 lol...
Mines 4x4, and has 31's. It will pull all the way up to the governor. It scared me when it cut off. I thought i blew the engine, since it was pulling and then just quit. mine are 3.73's (im pretty sure)
And BTW he said he was shifting from 4th to 5th, so how is it a 3 speed auto?
If your's is a factory 4x4,you probably have a limited-slip 4.10.Don't know that for sure though. You can crawl under it and read the tag bolted to the differential cover. It'll tell ya.It should have something like 8.8 and then have a set of numbers,(i.e. 3.55,3.73,4.10,etc.).Something like that.
