Ed, what I was alluding to was the fact that you are on a time schedule, so that means that you cannot take the extra time to extend your cab, which means that you will have to compromise and not get the reclining seats that you want. It happens to everybody. We always have to make decisions by weighing our options and picking which ones can come as close as possible to our goal while still meeting our design limitations. Either money, time, functionality, legality, or a dozen other things steer us toward our ultimate product. Wow, now I did it, I remember all the choices I had to make and all the things I did not do. No power windows or locks. Oh crap, well maybe on my next one... Good luck, John

Well I found my seat today I think. I found a split bench out of a 97 ford f150 in cloth. It measures right but I have not tried to fit it yet. I will let you guys know if this is the one after next trip. Ed

Ed,

How about some measurements on that seat so I can determine if it will fit my 48 also?

Ok the split bench is 57" across but 31" deep. The 57" is acceptable but I do not know if the 31" is. My seat is 25" deep so that means we are using up 6 more inches of space and to be honest I will have to mock it up and see what it looks like. Ed

Ed,

that particular seat is too wide for my 48. I have a maximum of 53 1/3 inches from door to door. Guess I'll have to look at something smaller like a Ford Ranger or S-10. Keep us posted on the seat installation though as I'd still be interested in knowing how much you have to raise it, if any. Thanks.

You bet. I think you are correct on the smaller trucks also. Or even a minivan. Ed

bench for '57-'60?

A 57" seat will fit the '57-'60 series truck just fine. Probably have about 59" available. I like the newer Ford truck bench with integrated seat belts. Has anyone tried this in the '57-'60 series truck? I have an '04 F-150 at work. The seats are very nice, but have a console in the middle. Does anyone have a split bench in one of the newer trucks for measurements? I've got a panel truck, so depth is not much of a problem, unless it hangs out the back door
