i just found this site tonight and i am happy about that...anyway i have a 94 bronco and when i bought it spring of 01 that summer my rear window motor went out. now 2 years later it is starting to go out yet again. is there any reason why the motor would fail in such a short time. and is there anything i can do to fix this. thanks.
the window will roll down with out a problem but when i go to roll it up it goes extremly slow and will completly stop. then i can pull on the glass to get it up
Just for starters...take off the access panel on the inside of the tailgate and lube up the tracks and rollers. if no help. then make sure that everything is snugged up. Too much slack will cause the window to work out of alignment and put alot of stress on parts including the motor. If lubing doesnt help..then go for another motor. Unfortunately, they dont all last forever but longet then this one tho. Could be you just got a lousy motor. Dont supposed it is still under warranty?
Spray silicone is a temp fix. May need attention to the channels. I fixed my 92 rear window problem with replacement stud collors. If tailgate senses it is not closed completely, the problem my be worn or missing plactic collors on the latch studs. Mine was cracked and would spin evertime I closed the gate. Thus, works sometimes. $5.00 fix and whole weekend figuring it out. Ahhh
My 96 has the exact same problem. I spray silicon lube on the seal track that the window rides in and it helps alot. I get tired of it being slow and having to stand there and wait on it to roll up. about every 3 months or so and spray it. I have thought about getting new seals and a new motor at the same time. But i don't know that it will fix it for good. I will most likely lube up the regulator inside the tail gate also.

I have a similar problem on my '89 Bronco tailgate window:
"the window will roll down with out a problem but when i go to roll it up it goes extremly slow and will completly stop. then i can pull on the glass to get it up"
The motor runs but whatever linkage runs the window up seems to slip...
I use fte dry lube on mine, it lasts much longer than silicone with less mess. I noticed that when your weatherstrip belts (at the top of the tailgate where the weatherstrip seals the glass from anything entering the tailgate) go bad or start to get dry and build up dirt that the glass is prone to more friction. the glass may roll down nice and easy but that is only because of gravity and an 60 lb. pc. of glass. I use this spray dry lube on the strip and all is well. I just ordered new weatherstrip belts, they are like $50 in JCWhitney.

Dug into the tailgate today , fixed the window problem. replaced the gear unit on the motor (do search here "power window" to get details). Also replaced weather strip on top of window and channel where glass goes up an down. (jc whitney). I'm guessing your problem is the gear assembly.
biggest problem is tailgate alignment ,tracks on gate and roof have to line up perfectly,or puts a big strain on motor and linkage. by the way, tailgate motor is the same as right side door window motor if you have any laying around.
