2003-2004 SUPER DUTY F-SERIES/EXCURSION 6.0L - LOW POWER - CAC TUBE BLOW OFF
SOME 2003-2004 SUPER DUTY F-SERIES AND EXCURSION 6.0L VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A LACK OF POWER AND/OR LOW BOOST PRESSURE CONDITION. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE HOT SIDE CHARGE AIR COOLER (CAC) TUBE BLOWING OFF.
TO SERVICE, REPLACE THE CAC TUBE/HOSE (SINGLE GENERATOR 4C3Z-6C646-BA / DUAL GENERATOR 4C3Z-6C646-CA). CLEAN THE HOSE MATING SURFACES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE FREE FROM OIL, THEN POSITION THE RUBBER CONNECTORS ALL THE WAY ONTO THE TURBOCHARGER AND CHARGE AIR COOLER FITTINGS BEFORE TIGHTENING THE CLAMPS TO 12 NM (9 LB-FT). AFTER REPAIR, TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND CHECK BOOST PRESSURE BY MONITORING 'MGP' ON WDS. NORMAL OPERATING BOOST PRESSURES SHOULD BE BETWEEN 22-25 PSI. IF THE VEHICLE HAS AN OVER-BOOST CONDITION IT WILL CAUSE THE TUBE TO BLOW OFF. PERFORM NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF ANY OVER-BOOST CONDITION.
What does everyone think about making a spot for emtabmm at the top of 6.0 forum (sticky) that only he will post there...these "type" of bulletins? That way we can all read the latest and greatest about our rides.
OK everyone time to rejoice, I am closing this thread. NO, NO, NO not to rejoice over that
However, I have worked out a way for us to get all the bulletins we can. I will be making an area, it will be “sticky” for the 6.0 stuff. No ONE will reply to it......it will be a “file” of sorts that you will go to and read, read, read.
I will close this thread soon and then move this bulletin to its new home.
This is going to be wonderful for all of us, a library of all the bulletins on the 6.0.
