Okay, I know this is a topic for the aftermarket forum but I think it would probably be better answered by some of the guys in here so this is where I'll post it.
Has anyone used the Bushwacker cut-out flares? If so what did you think of them and how much did you chop off of your fender?
I'm probably going to trim my fenders but will need flares to drive it on the road. This being the case I figured the cut-outs might be the way to go.
Well I'd prefer to be without them but if I stick a big tire on my truck I'll be getting pulled over every 5 minutes. Washington State Patrol are real ***** about stuff like that and if the tire sticks out further than the fender (which it will) you have to have flares. Never simple.
you are talking about the fibergalss ones Ho. My dad has a set of the fiberglass ones on his bronco and they SUCK! but My buddy Donald that we go 'crawlin with at Tellico has set of rubber flares on his Bronco and they flex and rub the tires and they still look band new. I can't remember the manufacturer, but I will see if i can get ahold of him.
Let me know what you find out Jason. I really prefer the looks of no flares but can't afford to be getting ticketed every time I take the truck out. These are what I'm looking at getting:
The soft flexible bushwacker flares are actually pretty good, and don't look too bad on our full sizes once they are painted in. They will get ripped off on tight trails though. WA state is freaking hard core ticket ***** and Ivan WILL have to get them. I can't even take my truck across the friggin border unless its on a flatbed
Last time I rolled over I didn't even make it 1 mile past the bridge
Next time you get pulled over throw that sucker in reverse and make sure you've got a video camera rolling.
I won't be doing too much in the way of trails with this truck, mostly street and mud so hopefully the flares will hang on. Like Idiomatic I would cry if I beat the body all to hell. I plan to buy a beater this year for trails.
Ivan, There is a 76 F100 SWB on ebay with current bid of 600. It has a 390 and probably needs a light overhaul because of oil leaks. its in your neck of the woods. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWA%3AIT
Shysters! That's an awesome deal. I'll have to keep an eye on it. It's about 300 miles away but nothing I couldn't hook up a trailer and get. That's exactly what I'm looking for in terms of a trail rig, something I don't have to worry about beating up.
Yes, I think WA is the worst of ANY state in this country for 4x4's. My Supercab is a DD so I have to keep the staters happy.
i was talking about the bushwacker flares like the ones on that green truck above...they get cracked, torn and get ripped off...i imagine the fiberglass ones would be worse
A friend of mine put a set of the cut out ones on his 89' F150, the looked like total ***. Even with 38x15.50's, the flairs were just to damn wide. With 40's they would look nice though. However, if you really need the wide flairs, they might be the hot ticket.
