I ordered my silver 04 FX4 SuperCrew with the two-tone DSG. It just so happened that I passed by the dealership as they were unloading the truck from the car carrier. There's absolutely no overspray anywhere and it arrived two-tone. (Final assembly Kansas City)
I've noticed that you have posted several comments concerning your (yet to be delivered) 04 FX4 SuperCab. Prior to reading this post I read where the salesman, (relative), lied to you. At that point I would have told him how I felt and walked away never to return! After reading this post there is no doubt in my mind that I would not purchase a vehicle from this particular dealership. I wish you luck.... I hope the two-tone on your truck doesn't look like the one you described. I also hope that you actually get what you ordered. By the way have you received a VIN and delivery date yet? Hopefully they are giving you a GREAT DEAL, it sounds like the owe you one.
Tag1... Trust me I was extremely ticked after 4 weeks of waiting, the salesman tells me he screwed the order up. However, instead of over reacting I handled the situation in a very rational way. This is a very large dealership I deal with, so mistakes are going to be made, in the past 20 years my family has dealt with this dealership we've never been the party involved in one of the dealerships mistakes. This is why I didn't fly into a rage, you have to take the good with the bad. We've (my family) ordered numerous vehicles from this dealership and never once even requested a VIN number, and each deal in the past went flawless. Can I run to another dealership, sure I live just outside Atlanta there all over the place. But, I remember when this dealer beat every dealer in a 70 mile radius by $3,000 on my 97 F-150. It's most rewarding to call other dealerships and hear these words "there is no way they can sell it that cheap, they're losing atleast $2000 on the deal". Yep that's it they've been in business 30+yrs and lose $2000 per sale??
In regards to the overspray, maybe I'm using the wrong word to describe what I saw. Look at the lower portion of the truck between the 2 door cracks ( location of B pillar ), the outter skin of the door was drk shdw grey, but the b pillar was yellow with grey overspray, likewise btwn the cab and bed in that lower portion of the truck it was yellow where it should have been grey. I'm sure with your truck being silver/drk shadow grey it would be extremely hard to notice due to the similarity of the colors.
I wish you well, let us know how things work out. If this deal doesn't work out, come up to Indiana and I will get you a 04 FX4 SuperCab Red/DSG at half price! The only thing that you have to do is drop them Dawgs and become a "Fightin Irish Fan"!!! LOL
Thanks tag1, maybe I'm just to "nit picky" about trucks. It looks as though some of you guys have noticed the same problem while others haven't. It's no big deal and in all honesty doesn't really hurt the looks of the truck. At half price I might take you up on your offer, I always enjoy a road trip! At least your not a boiler maker fan!
I have the blazing yellow Screw with the grey on the bottom. I have a rock chip on the driver door grey. It shows yellow where the rock hit the grey. I'm trying to get the grey touch up paint to fix it.
It had to come to the dealership already painted 2 tone because it was delivered right after hurricane Isabel. The dealership was closed due to power outage from the hurricane and had not been cleaned.
ford6 You said the yellow showed through with the rock chip. Was it a real hard hit. If not, I guess I had better invest in the splash/mud guards to protect my grey lower part on my yellow Supercrew. Keep us informed on the touch up paint.
This will be my first 2tone vehicle, I guess this explains my concerns. I just couldn't go for the monotone FX4. Could have if the bumbers hadn't been the same as the body color.
