I just bought a 1979 F-150 custom ,4x4, shotbed, 351m . It has had a body and interior restoration done about 12 years ago, with 20k miles on the resto. I'm interested in leveling out the suspension, but I don't think the spring and bushing kits come with everything I need. I know I'll need 2" over-stock shocks up front, but will i have to get a drop pitman arm also? All of the drop pitman arms I've seen are for 3" or 6". Also, should I use an adjustable tracking bar. Any Ideas will help. I'm new to suspension mods. I would leave it the way it is, but it just doesn't look right and I want to put 33"s under it. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I recently put 2 inch lift Skyjacker coils on the front of my 77 F150 4X4 along with Skyjacker Nitro shocks. The steering components and brake lines and the radius arms are still fine. The 2 inch springs actually lifted the front end about 3 inches because the stock springs were worn out and sagging a inch. I have 2 inch skyjacker add-a-leafs I am going to install in the next month some time.
You might want to watch how the track bar centers. Two inches of lift will shift your front axle about 0.4 inches to the driver's side-a drop bracket or the adjustable track bar may be nessisary depending on how the truck lines out and handles after the lift
thanks for the info. I ordered a leveling kit from Broncograveyard.com They have parts for our trucks along with broncos. I also got the adjustable track bar. I figured I'd do it right the first time and not end up needing the track bar later. I've got some rancho rs5000 shocks on the way too. The project should be alot of "fun".
