On my 77 250 I had some wheel studs replaced and noticed the drums have some nice deep grooves in them and the Shoes were down to the rivits... well my question is I am going to replace the shoes, spring kit and the wheel cylinders, and have the drums turned. But if the grooves are not gone after they are turned how bad will this affect my new shoes? Since I priced new drums at around 90.00 each.
If the groove's are to deep it is a waste to machine them as most shop's won't touch an oversize drum, the grooves will destroy your set of shoes. If you are going thru all that work spend the extra 180 bucks on a set of drum's
Thanks Guys for the imput... I am gonna park the truck untill I get the bucks up for the new drums, No sence of going through all that work and then have to do it all over again, I might as well do it right the first time and save me money in the long run!!
